Akashi Japanese Whisky is a distinct, artisanal brand produced by the historic Eigashima Shuzo (often referred to as the White Oak Distillery). Located in the coastal fishing village of Akashi in Hyogo Prefecture, it holds a fascinating place in spirits history: Eigashima was granted Japan's very first whisky making license in 1919—four years before Suntory built the famous Yamazaki Distillery. Despite its deep history, it remains one of Japan's smallest, family-run distilleries, crafting spirits in tiny batches with a tiny team.
