Tapatio Añejo Tequila is an exceptionally well-regarded, certified additive-free highland tequila crafted at the historic La Alteña Distillery (NOM 1139) in Arandas, Jalisco. Created by master distiller Carlos Camarena, it is aged for 18 months in used bourbon barrels (six months longer than the minimum requirement for an añejo). Despite the extensive time spent in oak, Tapatio Añejo stands out because it prioritizes vibrant, cooked agave flavor rather than masking it with intense barrel influence, making it a consensus favorite among both añejo aficionados and blanco lovers.
